The Atlanta Fox Theatre has always had a close association with the holiday time of Christmas.  Opening on Christmas Day of 1929, the Fox has offered up countless films, stage tableaux, and musical concerts throughout its yuletide history.  It is a landmark fact that this tradition continues—brighter than every stellar grouping in the Fox’s atmospheric sky—under the deft hand of Larry Douglas Embury, the Fox’s impresario of the theatre’s magnificent Möller organ.

Mr. Embury has, for the last several seasons, made sure that Larry, Carols, and Mo has not been just a solo entertainment—although he could easily do so with the power and majesty of the great Möller theatre organ.  He has invited local personalities, choirs, and—most importantly—audiences to be a part of his inspired performance.  When all of these elements join to raise their voice in a Christmas carol, the results are electrifying.

If you find yourself searching for that nostalgic Christmas spirit that seems to have dimmed in a world of cell phones, computers, and smog-laden traffic, then wander in to that courtyard within the Fox that greets you just as warmly as it did back in 1929.  Join Mr. Embury and his mighty musical accomplice in an evening that will stay with you like a warm Christmas pudding.  His talent and his genuine love for his audience will be readily apparent.  You’ll go away feeling a little closer to Christmas—and probably humming a few measures from The Little Drummer Boy.
